Bas van Wieringen (1983) is an Amsterdam based visual artist. He studied Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and graduated in 2011.

Van Wieringen is interested in the everyday, the quotidian. His creative process is a direct reaction to his environment; it revolves around the moment, – ‘the moment when nothing seems to be happening’. This moment, for him, triggers an active state of boredom. He finds the unnoticed noticeable and plays around with it. Play and humour are a very important aspect in his work. He is not trying to make jokes, but he plays with paradoxes within everyday life and this mostly leads to humorous end results.
