Hilbrand Rozema [journalist and writer] about Bens’ work:
“His painting is about painting itself and about reflection on modern society and history.
In his painting Ben combines a feel for the heartbeat and feverish pulse of our image-and media-saturated times with craftmanship and artistic skill and drive to capture ‘fast’ and ostensibly images in a durable, sensitive way of a painter. His paintings are ment to enrich ourselves by a deeper understanding of both art and meaning.
His personal quest and comment on modern history and the news- and media-industry that dishes out images in bulk, is a point of meditation and reflection for him as a painter. Ben tries to keep up a standard of quality and at the same time asks questions and places footnotes in the margin of our society, without compromising on the artistic quality.”
