During a road trip through the United States in 2015, Daniela Schwabe (1984) was touched by the landscapes she witnessed. It fascinated her that she was just an accidental spectator of this nature; nature that exists without any spectators and without any subjectivity. She asked herself: can a landscape be more than a place?

What would a landscape look like with subjective elements? With her journey in mind, Schwabe made a series of oil paintings of light, playful landscapes, containing different layers of reality, in which imagination, memory and dreams play a central role. Looking at these landscapes, some parts come off and different layers are added, presenting an interaction between space and reflection.
