The Artists:
Driessens & van den Baar communicate their vision of the world around them in artworks and design pieces. They create images that are still recognizable, but reconstructed in a new appearance and material. As a result, they give the spectator a new way of looking at reality.
Both artists use techniques connected to the handcrafts of textile, drawing and painting. So the process of research and making in the studio is essential for their work. Since 1999, the artists develop and make all the works together. This is the year they founded their studio, Driessens & van den Baar WANDSCHAPPEN.

Rotterdam South, The Netherlands:
Since 2012, Driessens & van den Baar have used two main themes in the collection of artworks and design: Nature Morte and Traces. Both themes are raised due to the big city developments in Rotterdam South, where a large movement of migration is decisive for the development of the city. The works show the “ready-made” situations in the streets captured by photography. Driessens & van den Baar transform them into drawings, textile wall objects and resin paintings.

Collaborations:
The constantly growing series of artworks is supplemented with site-specific installations and commissions. Therefore, Driessens & van den Baar work together with a large group of artists, designers and craftsmen from Rotterdam. Shows have been realized with the Boymans Museum, Frozen Fountain, Contemporary Art Fair and NL=US Gallery. Abroad, with Salone del Mobile, Vitra Haus and Chiang Mai Design Week.
