Elizabeth De Witt (Long Beach, California) is interested in how we are, how we aren’t, and how we can be present with the people and the world around us. She engages the present primarily with observational, yet gestural drawings. Back in the studio she furthers this investigation of engagement by ruminating on the continuum between the present (Image) and memory (Afterimage). As tools in this exploration she often uses static materials and multifaceted modes of representation.
For THIS Art Fair Josilda da Conceição Gallery will be showing a selection of De Witt’s Image work from a recent trip to Idaho along the Main fork of the Salmon River.
