Simone Hoang

Olfactory II

“Memory is not a faithful reproduction of past events but rather a mental faculty based on recollection-reconstruction processes.”

In her photographic work, Simone Hoang responds, reconstructs and redefines images and memories in order to gain control of the intangible. Memories or the theme itself often play a roll in her work. By overprocessing, she clears the obvious and makes room for human imagination. Her way of working can be seen as research, wherein the process plays an equally important role as the result.

As an upcoming young talent Simone will have a presentation at the Bookstore, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. At This Art Fair 2016 Fontana will present a preview of Simone’s new series.
