In Germany, Stefan Rohrer has already been presented by leading galleries such as Galerie Scheffel in Bad Homburg and Manfred Rieker gallery in Heilbron. In addition, he has won various prizes and stipends, such as the Young Artist’s Award of the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design (2009). And in 2015: Kunst am Bau, ARENA 2036, Universitätsgelände Stuttgart-Vaihingen (1st prize), Lothar-Fischer-Preis, Stipendium ZF Kunststiftung, Friedrichshafen.
Stefan Rohrer uses cars, scooters and model cars as his basic material. He uses it to create sculptures with titles such as ‘Schlaudertrauma’ (Whiplash injury). Cars and scooters that extend themselves through the space in wild movements. At first sight, they evoke a cheerful impression because of the bright colours, the movement, and the parts flying around. Cartoon-like, happy sculptures with a dramatic undertone – because these are crashed vehicles, and sometimes we still see the driver somewhere in between the parts. What we see, then, is on the one hand the admiration for the fast, beautifully designed cars and their reckless drivers, and on the other hand a critical note on this fast world.http://franzisengels.nl/Actueel%20nieuw/kunstenaars/stefan%20rohrer-2.html
