Youth memories play a central role in the works by Thomas van Rijs ( 1986 ). The memory of a place where you played as a kid and where you created a whole universe for  yourself. Playing soldier, quests on a farmyard or isolated industrial area and building wooden huts. The paintings are reconstructions of these fragmented memories. The visual language of Thomas van Rijs refers to blueprints, board games, computer games and scale models.
