Ahn Sung Hwan’s practices express the personal curiosity about the contemporary individual’s survival strategy. Everything has been liquified, everyone has been liquified.  However, the liquidity is still unknown to us who have habitually leaned on the firmer structure. How can we survive in this fluid world? Maybe we need to lighten up, soften ourselves to eventually float to survive here.

Ahn’s survival strategy is to worship kitsch to lighten his existence. He hates seriousness and weight. For salvation, he suggests massaging someone’s exhausted muscles softer by using wellness industrial props. Therefore, the products he created are phenomenon trigger tools. Thus, please do not pay too much attention to the product itself. Rather, please be curious about the phenomena that the props will cause. 

Ahn Sung Hwan majored in chemical engineering and product design and also belonged to a theater collective. After graduating, he has been conducting various experiments on liquefied individuals between South Korea and the Netherlands. He was selected as artist support for Hyundai Motor(Zer01ne), Dutch Culture, and INVERSIE.
