I create idea-based sculptures, taking inspiration from a domestic context. By looking at everyday objects through an absurdist lens, I fabricate uncanny encounters.
While humour draws the viewer in, it soon becomes apparent that the work is also critical: of polluting garments, of growing up, of loss of frivolity. The contradicting nature of my work hands the viewer different entry points. It sets and breaks boundaries: it challenges the viewer to rethink and question their daily life in a playful manner.
Working in between Norway and The Netherlands, I’ve developed a way of making that revolves around combining different elements. Two seemingly unrelated objects are assembled into a sculpture with new potential.
Ultimately, through these sculptures I attempt to achieve a sense of belonging, possibility and play, even if the new purpose of the work challenges its original nature.
