How do I relate to the Other(s)? What is the role of the I? And when is the I a We?
Cindy’s work is a continuous investigation of human relationships and positions. She explores and analyses how We move and connect with each other, objectively and without judgment. She translates her findings into multidisciplinary compositions of abstract shapes, colours and sounds she calls ‘Scripted Gatherings’: scenes in which everything is connected through a careful interplay between space, scenography, and human presence. With her work, Cindy facilitates and searches for connection with the Other(s). Every work starts with an invitation to ‘step inside’: a community building, gallery, studio, museum, a drawing. This (physical, virtual, or rational) space is the stage for the encounter. Being part of something, ‘being there’ and co-responsibility characterise the role of all players in her work, including herself.
Playful and uninhibited, Cindy creates structure within the complexity of our society.
Cindy studied at ArtEZ in Arnhem and did her Master’s in Breda. Her work was rewarded the Stipend Established Artists, has been exhibited in renowned places and is included in various collections.
