Emmy Zwagers graduated from AKV St. Joost in 2019. She also studied Painting at Camberwell College London. These perspectives on art influenced her work in a way that is focussed on proces rather than concept.

Emmy paints with acrylic because of the short drying time. It forces her to make quick decisions. In her work she contemplates the gesture and how the space surrounds it on a flat surface.

“I want to play with depth. Recognisable and unrecognisable stuff are seen in my work. I like to mix those up. With just my paintbrush it is really good.”
