TMI. Sharing your browser history, or reading someone’s diary. Those dreams in which you show up to work naked. Yelling at a friend in a moment of overstimulation. Throwing up on the subway after a night out. I position exaggerated moments of indecency as an alternative to social control in the name of ‘decency’. In my drawings, I seek to portray those moments that characterise the human experience with a visceral tenderness.
In gritty layers of graphite and coloured pencil, I explore memories and feelings of shame, confusion, disappointment and despair, tenderly illustrating these sensations and offering everyone a possibility to react and reflect on things that we’d rather rush past and forget.
