Studio report.

A pencil is not to be found in my studio. I paint, at least that’s what I think, but is that really the case?

It is indeed paint that I use, usually not directly on the canvas, but I postpone this decision by first spreading it on a glass plate. Then I stick it on the canvas and if necessary I pull it off again, add more and work until the image no longer requires further intervention. Another method in which even the brush and pencil are no longer necessary is in making acrylic foam, a beautiful structure of air/nothing and acrylic.

Whether it is abstract or figurative, I call myself a material realist. A brush stroke remains a brush stroke and foam remains foam. Accessible to anyone who can, for example, look at the clouds and enjoy light and structure and who does not panic when there is no face to be recognised in them.

Material, light, colour, structure, irritation and contemplation.
That is what the viewer has to make do with.
