The Himmelsbach Idea Catalogue – Return of the Fun
Humour is a side product of reality under pressure, and I apply that pressure by offering new perspectives on deeply ingrained everyday issues. At This Art Fair, I embrace a new credo: Return of the Fun, with a playful yet sharp selection from my ‘Himmelsbach Idea Catalogue’: an archive of over 120 conceptual public interventions drawn as visual proposals.
From ‘Monument to Ungranted Art Applications’ to ‘Cosmic Complaint Line’, each idea tackles a personal or societal issue and reframes it with imagination and wit. After a decade focused on ‘A Paper Monument for the Paperless,’ I’m returning to the more absurd and humourous side of my socially engaged practice.
What you’ll see are satirical blueprints, collectible ink drawings, maybe a few textile works, and a curated selection of conceptual merchandise and more: tiles from the ‘Monument for Okay People’, my fully operational ‘Wilders Webshop’, and two previously won art prizes, now available for purchase.
Through these ideas, I hope to open conversations, spark engagement and offer visitors fresh tools to rethink their world – with a sideways grin and a mischievous sense of joy.
