Idiots (Afke Golsteijn and Floris Bakker – both 1975, Amsterdam) studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Since the start of their collaboration, they have presented their message in both monumental sculpture and art jewellery. Their work, in which taxidermy animals* play an important role, has been adapted in such a way that as a spectator you do not know whether animal or human processing plays the main role. Their intriguing sculptures are sometimes confrontational, sometimes shocking and sometimes surprisingly light-hearted. But one thing is certain, their stunning art works – often named after Greek myths – can be read as a fable.

*No animals were harmed to create these artworks / art jewellery pieces

Idiots’ work has been exhibited worldwide and can be found in numerous international private and public collections, including the National Museum for Achitecture and Design, Oslo, Norway, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), LA, USA and Museum Arnhem, Arnhem.
