The work of Imke Akihary originates from her fascination for kitsch, glitters, toys, soft and furry fabrics, almost painfully sweet colours and other seemingly inexpensive materials. In her eyes these materials all have a visual beauty, and by translating them she tries to make others see that too. With these materials she creates objects, sculptures, creatures and installations. She invites people to temporarily immerse themselves in this wonderful imaginary world.
