40-second loop

The issues that I raise in my work relate to (unequal) power relations, usually concerning politics or misogyny, extremism and stereotypes. For example: how an American businessman feeds extremism and can also be president, or how we think of truckers as white men drinking beer, or how the Internet is regarded as an extremely powerful source of information; its role and position of power in spreading (misleading) information is something I find interesting.

Conversations I overhear, or texts I read online are a starting point to make multi-material works. These often result in installations in which they are pointing towards each other in some sort of system of signs, as a way of playing with reality.

By using stereotypes as symbols and by combining contradictory ideas about subjects in my work, I want to make people aware of their thinking patterns and to challenge their assumptions by re-presenting them with their own ideas. While making sculptures or installations, it’s not about finding answers but about asking the right questions.
