Jamal Nxedlana (1985) is a visual artist working primarily in video and photography. Based in Johannesburg, his multifaceted creativity has given shape to several different projects. Both as a member of digital artist collective CUSS, as a founder and creative director of digital platform Bubblegum Club, and in his independent work, Nxedlana draws upon the surrounding environment of contemporary, post-post-colonial South Africa. A place of cultural, commercial and technological super-hybridity, and haunted by the uncertainties of both the past and present, his work offers an alternative narrative on the country’s art and society.
