I want to incorporate myself into stories that make my life notable. Like most generations, ours has a sense of revolution. I have the feeling we are at the brink of a huge pivot point that will change everything. These stories are usually built around protagonists and antagonists. As long as I can tell myself I’m on the good side and the other is bad, the world is quite comprehensible. I’m trying to break some of these stories down, or at least show more sides to a certain story. Therefore I enrich myself with a broader view of the world and step out of a narrow vision. Art broadens my world, really. The subjects I work with are identity, migration, religion, death, and the climate crisis.

I have a naive but also dark vision of the world. I travel the world to find leisure but also some kind of meaning in life. I don’t believe in materialism as a way to get happy, and since I am an Agnostic, it can be hard to experience something bigger than day-to-day life. There must be more(!). That’s why I try to chase something ‘magical’, and I think my desperate search shows in a lot of my work. The magical can be found but is often quite disappointing as well. I need the supernatural. I need to learn about the Mystery of human existence.

I work with different kinds of paint, ceramics, film, animation, pencil, charcoal, crayons, woodcut, paper mache, and plaster.
