Installation

For a long time, the feeling of the helplessness and absurdity of human existence has been Katerina’s companion. Armed with eyes, damned with reason. Struggling with what is given, but terrified of what is yet to be found, man marches the world, knowing then unknowing again.

Sidorova considers memory, archetype, myth and ritual as the key categories of her work. In a continuous search, artworks become inseparable from one another and together form a never-ending chronicle. Changing through time, carefully surrounding and embracing, they serve as bedtime stories for the frightened man.

Katerina Sidorova is a recent graduate of KABK in The Hague and YSPU in Yaroslavl, Russia. With work varying from installations and sculptures to videos and performances, she has exhibited in several shows at Camden Arts Centre, Tent, Nest and OT301, and has participated in film and video art festivals in the Netherlands and internationally.
