Linhuei Chen is a Taiwanese-Dutch artist based in Rotterdam. Her experiences of diaspora trigger her to question its impacts on transcultural people’s notions of home and cultural hybridity through memories. In her artistic practice, she makes paintings as the primary medium and often combines them with drawings, objects, or audiovisual installations. Different types of optical viewers sometimes appear in her work. She uses them as metaphors for her transcultural experiences between the East and West.

Since 2020, Chen has been building a world called Memory Diaspora, where transcultural cultural memories are stored and evolve together. At This Art Fair 2022, she will present a series of paintings which show the viewers how she transforms individual stories about food into her imagination of the world of Memory Diaspora.
