We don’t often realise that we have created almost everything around us and continue to do so. In my work I strive to draw attention to the process-oriented nature of the world around us. I respond to constructed situations or ideas and examine if multiple/different perspectives can be applied to them.
The creation process plays an important role in the end result. I make use of the exchange between monumental and conceptual materials and techniques: the space itself, concrete, tarp, metal, construction versus pencil, paper, wood and sketches.
I select materials that can borrow each other’s qualities and I mix and reshape their properties. By combining monumental visual cues with conceptual ones, I create constructs that exude not only monumentality but also doubt, reflection, and process.
