For me, to play is to live, and to live is to create.
I am Maas van Duijnhoven, a 22-year-old artist focused on creating sculptures from found objects, known as ‘The Findlings’. These small creatures, made from ‘trash’ I discover during my walks in cities, represent the various places that I visit, such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Ameland and even the American Midwest. My work is strongly inspired by my childhood, where I was always searching for adventure and treasures. I want to invite people to explore the world around them with curiosity and playfulness. By transforming found ‘trash’ into sculptures, I give each object a new home and contribute to a cleaner environment. My work is meant to spark the viewers’ curiosity and encourage them to think about connection, both with each other and the world around them.
