Soft is the key word describing my work. Most of my sculptures are made from flexible polyurethane foam, which makes them very tactile. Over the past years, they have been part of site-specific installations at various locations, varying from abandoned houses and factories to a medieval church and even a campground. The sculptures transform each location to a parallel world, giving it a surreal, soft touch. At This Art Fair, photographs of various site-specific works will be presented.
In addition to foam objects and site-specific photographs, a freestanding installation invites the visitor of the fair to quietly enter a secluded world of soft material, and be surrounded by sounds. The handmade semitransparent ‘skin’ of this construction feels like an embrace, but at the same time it has a bewildering effect on the brain due to the movement of the fibers. This fiber pattern, in turn, is the main inspiration source for my ink drawings.www.marjokevandeplassche.nl
