My photos and sculptures show the power of vulnerability. They show an intensification of awareness to identity, such as gender ambiguity and the “faulty body”. Today’s society confronts and questions us in all kinds of ways about these issues, with increasingly strict standards. But it is precisely the deviation that is the seemingly irrational factor that makes a person whole. I seek the power of duality, vulnerability and imperfection. I explore themes concerning our humanity that touch my very being, both physically and figuratively.
My work shows the body that transforms into different shapes of being in order to ‘be’. Using my body and attributes, I shamelessly evoke situations of human experiences. It is a playful world in which I can grow in solitude. Certainly not an everyday world, but today’s world. My work shows non-obvious relations that need to be re-examined.
