Artist statement

“For a long time, I have been interested in occurrences that are slightly diverged from normalcy in life: for instance when an event does not go as planned; a paradoxical cultural difference and common point at the same time; easily overseen subjects or an accident from which we turn our eyes.

I started out with minor personal accidents such as a burning accident, a language problem and breaking glasses. I focus on the details and the processes. In this way I trace the process of how the event took place.

The subject I work with normally comes across in a moment of life, in situations, daydreams and information. The work starts from finding a disharmony such as a certain enigma or illogicality in it, then apply the simple method of repetition, so as to magnify the instabilities. It is important for my work to remain objective and neutral, as forging a bond between the subject and the audience is the central part of the work, more so than the work itself. I would like my work to trigger the audience to relive its process and to contextualize the subject into their own context and imagination.”
