The 3-channel film installation Folding in Reverse (made possible by P.S. Performance Site) is a physical choreography of (non-)verbal communication between two performers. In this day and age, where movement and touch can lead to potential harm, our longing to connect and feel increases over time. To express these moments of longing the film is shown in reverse. The work researches the folding of the body and its physical grammar, which not only shape the skeleton but our connection with others as well.

Ronald Bal is a visual artist mainly focusing on live art, storytelling, installation and lens-based media. His work deals with danger and fragility in intimate systems and natural events. Inspired by social exchange, cyborgs, history and ecology in the field of anthropology, he is currently focusing on the organic body and digital text. He simulates the physical and the virtual by re-animating personal data combined with live events, on the border of theatre and visual art. In his installations, repetitions of images and body movements are combined to support their narrative structure.
