As soon as you don’t pay attention, your car will turn into a broken car. Ruben Planting plays a game with language and image, fact and fiction through sculptures, interventions, short stories and performances. In a poetic way he claims the rules of reality in order to gain control over the things that are constantly changing. It is an exercise about introspection, fiction, desires and inaccessibility. A well takes the shape of a pool of water, characters in the stories seem to be looking for contact, while Ruben runs after a departing train with a bunch of flowers in his hand. Sculptures and invented stories seem to merge with reality.
Ruben Planting is a weatherman who tells you what the weather will be like. We’ll see tomorrow whether what he says is true, but the events are going to affect how we experience the day anyway.
During This Art Fair works will be made on the spot, there will be pieces that attract and repel each other and that influence the fair in a certain way (think of the sound of a jet fighter flying over).www.rubenplanting.com
