For This Art Fair, digital persona SleepeelS (Mariah Blue’s alter ego) is presenting, Roses Rest, the debut album from musical duo Bots & Gas. A limited edition of ten vinyl records will be released and sold there as art objects alongside other art multiples (merchandise) such as t-shirts, stickers and helium balloons.
Bots & Gas is a cross-disciplinary music and artistic duo consisting of Alexandros Papamarkou and Mariah Blue. During the making of the album they have been inspired by alternative forms of songwriting. The song content has come from a text predicting algorithm, channeled sources, spirits and aliens contacted through automatic writing and the Ouija board. In this case, in the most literal sense we can speak of “ghost writing” here. The record interweaves experimental pop, dance, multi-layered (choral) a cappella singing, spoken word and even a ballad written by a nineteenth century ghost. They drew inspiration by the likes of Kate Bush and Talking Heads amongst many others, living and dead.
During This Art Fair in Amsterdam, August 2021, Bots & Gas will debut their album through a limited edition of 16, one of a kind, lathe cut vinyl records. Each day of the fair, at 16:00, a live-stream performance of the album will be hosted by Bits and Pieces, livestream platform and presented by SleepeelS in the mezzanine.
