My work is intuitive, I work from body motion and the coincidences that the material produces. I carefully work out the evocative images that are derived in this way. Because I work from my body motion, the works are often of a monumental format. The images that are created are not random, I give them meaning; my perspective, emotion, and manner work through my fine motor skills. Secondly, I select the resulting images and manoeuvre them. I try to provide my images with a meaningful charge. The exact meaning for the viewer is not important to me. As soon as the work has that charge, it is independent.
In my latest work I have used metal powder on a dark surface. This creates light and spatial effects. I provide the paintings with a layer of epoxy resin because it gives the work a hermetic character, keeping the viewer a bit remote. It increases the intriguing character of the paintings.
