What are you doing THIS summer, Darlings?

How about taking part in an alternative art auction and breathing life into one of your dead darlings? Good plan! Now, here is what’s what: This Art Fair* and Dead Darlings collective are joining forces to bring you an exciting event combining elements of performance and exhibition. We invite you to send us your outliers**! Now read carefully:

Dead Darlings #19 — And now THIS! will be an auction of dead darlings. These are artworks that are still important to the artist, yet must be put aside and excluded from the final selection because they fail to fall into orbit, they don’t tie in with the rest, they refuse to be incorporated… This doesn’t mean they have no merit of their own, they simply never fit-in, they are outliers!

Look through your archives, sift through all of that to find your THIS! Send us your killed darling, your beloved outlier, and let us place it in the spotlight, tell its story and help you find it a new home where it can finally belong. A dead darling should have no commercial price tag, allowing us to set very low starting prices, stimulating a conversation about value and keeping the auction the way we like it: inclusive and subversive.

All participating artists will be listed, but not in connection to the works. Adding to the excitement, the artist’s names will only be revealed after each sale, building up suspense and evening out the playing field. Proceeds are divided equally between the artists and production costs. To participate in the auction, simply fill in this formand send us your outlier, explaining why it doesn’t fit in, and also why it’s special or important to you as a maker.
