This is an Update

In 2027, we are happy to welcome you to a new edition of This Art Fair, the art fair that offers artists a place to showcase and sell their work. We are aiming for Amsterdam just before summer; we’ll share the exact location and dates later.

However, you won’t have to miss us for long, because this year we’ll be organising a small-scale alternative event where we will offer a platform to a number of talented artists.

After a successful edition of This in 2025, we would have loved to celebrate the art of today with you again this year. However, This Art Foundation, the foundation behind This Art Fair, has had to decide that it’s not feasible to organise an edition in 2026.

In our twenty years of existence, we have seen the art world change and professionalise: a development we fully applaud and to which we have actively contributed. The downside is that cultural policy hasn’t kept pace, and the system is creaking: frozen budgets, the loss of affordable venues, governments that don’t care about culture, a proliferation of initiatives, rising costs in every area. We are fishing in the same small financial pond with too many parties. This was extreme in 2025. Many funds simply ran out of money by the end of the year. As a non-profit foundation organising a non-commercial art fair where participating artists keep all proceeds, we are largely dependent on subsidies. As a result, securing our funding has become more difficult.

Skipping a year gives us the opportunity to create the best possible version of This Art Fair in 2027 and to engage in various collaborations with like-minded initiatives. Especially for all the wonderful artists, and of course for our loyal audience, we are committed to a bright future. We certainly won’t be sitting still in 2026. We will tell you more about this year’s alternative event in the near future, which everyone is, of course, very welcome to attend.
