It all began with a dream.

The moment I left my home country Iran was inevitable. A moment to leave things behind and to carry on with the things I carry with me up to now.

I started an education in fashion design at the Gerrit Rietveld academy with the aspiration to become a fashion designer. A few years after I finished my education I put this idea behind me and began to make paintings.

I make paintings in which I give paper and envelopes a new shape by folding, tearing and drawing, so I can release my story. At first glance, the paintings show a combination of different objects that are sometimes attached, sometimes realistically drawn and remotely create a three-dimensional illusion. It seems an abstract collage, while in fact it is realistic drawn. I use this technique as a tool to tell a hidden story from memory.

I have to release my memories because everything reminds me of them… old pictures, television, books, disasters, people and even my child. So my cultural background as well as day to day life in present and past are my main sources of inspiration.

My paintings are exhibited regularly over the past years…and I still paint…from memory.
