Rhythm and geometry are two basic elements in the work of Matthias Heiderich. By observing his surroundings through his camera lens, Heiderich found out that even the ugly looking buildings around you show a lot of beauty and interesting details. He is looking for the detail that can be taken out of its context to create something new: an artificial contextless world isolated from the rest, ideally colorful and silent.

The biggest aspect that will always be absent in his photographs are people. People are loud and distracting and disturb the graphic combinations in his compositions. The colors and color combinations became his trademark. By exploring the city on his bike during sunny days, using color filters, Heiderich developed his own signature. He plays with the contrasts, sharp compositions and the frame of cityscapes. It almost becomes graphical design. By doing this Heiderich reconstructs the world we live in to an abstract canvas filled with parallel lines, patterns, angular compositions and lively colors.
