Benjamin Li is a Dutch-Chinese visual artist interested in food and foodways specifically connected to Chinese-Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands. For his most recent project, Li took photos of Chinese food, collected hundreds of menus and unique tableware.

Coming from a background in photography, Li soon developed an interest in other media like video and sculpture. He also makes frequent use of the many possibilities and services offered by webshops.

He has changed the execution of his ideas within and between projects throughout the years, but all can be traced back to themes surrounding identity, culture, and sense of belonging. Most of his projects are interwoven, coexist and expend continually on previously collected archival material.
