In my work I investigate how we interact with economies of desire. Why, for instance, is my neighbour helpful to me, how can I be charming as a good host, why do I cry when I get off the plane when I’ve missed Athens?
Situations like these engulf our daily lives. I want to explore how our desires move us through them in collaborative projects, video and installations.
In my latest project I explore unmet desires, how we project our frustrations onto objects and sometimes even lash out on them. Set in my own garden, I become the grumpy gardener, a role with little sex appeal that nevertheless may hold some untapped potential. Shouting at junk as a gardener might, in its non-appeal, be an unexpected source of comfort in our times of overpromise, unreasonable expectations and demand of constant “fun”.
